Friends of Rookery Bay
Volunteers Established in 1987,
the Friends of Rookery Bay, Inc. (FORB) was formed to enlist support for the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve's goals and programs, raising additional funds, recruiting volunteers, sponsoring special events, and aiding staff in implementing the Reserve's management plan.

Did you know that in 2010
  • Attendance at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center increased 34%
  • Membership in the Friends of Rookery Bay tripled
  • More events were added to the schedule, giving you additional reasons to visit
  • Existing events were enhanced to provide more activities for all ages
  • The half-mile nature trail path was resurfaced to accommodate strollers, and an observation platform over Henderson Creek was added
  • We began a Lunch & Learn Lecture Series that is free for members
  • We started offering members advance registration for Nature Festival field trips
    • And...there are more programs on the way!

In light of all these exciting developments, we have simplified the membership levels -- and enhanced the benefits!    For example:
  • free admission is now offered for 2 adults and all member children and grandchildren under 18, for Family level and above
  • we added an annual Members' Night event, to thank you for your support
  • Patron level members and higher may opt-out of certain benefits, to provide full support to the organization
