More About the Friends of Rookery Bay |

Volunteer Citizen Support Organization Established in 1987, the Friends of Rookery Bay (FORB) is a volunteer citizen support organization that assists the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in the management of the 110,000 - acre Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Informed Coastal Decisions FORB provides community support and involvement that is designed to contribute to informed coastal decisions through an integrated program of coastal stewardship, research and education.
Environmental Learning Center FORB is also instrumental in providing assistance with the Environmental Learning Center. From maintaining inventory for the Palmetto Patch Nature Store to hosting fundraisers and other events, FORB helps the Reserve spread its message of informed stewardship throughout the community.
Community Support Friends of Rookery Bay works with individuals, businesses, foundations and other donors to raise funds that support programs at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and its Environmental Learning Center as well as in the community

How Will My Membership Fee Be Used |
Making a Difference Your membership fee will assist the Reserve in meeting the many challenges faced by coastal resource managers. Critical tasks where funding is important include water quality research, biological monitoring, control of invasive exotic plants and animals, community outreach activities and educational programs for local schools. Your help can really make a difference!
