ArcGIS Desktop I: Getting Started with GIS |
Overview This course provides a broad introduction of what GIS is and how it can be used. Students will become familiar with fundamental GIS concepts and terminology and the ESRI ArcGIS software. This course is designed to provide the basic skills and knowledge needed for taking additional ArcGIS Desktop courses. Topics Covered
- Basic GIS concepts
- Creating maps
- Coordinate systems and map projections
- Querying GIS data
- Performing basic spatial analysis to answer questions
- Introduction to metadata and why it is important
Who Should Attend This course is for people that are new to GIS and have never used the ESRI ArcGIS software. The course is ideal for Professionals that manage GIS staff and want to learn the basics. Cost $650 and there is a 15% discount if an agency or company has more than 2 people attending. DEP employees contact Jill Schmid for registration costs. Computer use, materials, breakfast and lunch are included.
