2010 Southwest Florida Nature Festival More than 500 people participated in the 2010 Southwest Florida Nature Festival at Rookery Bay! Cool weather provided field trip participants with some optimal viewing opportunities. Exciting sightings included red cockaded woodpeckers, red knots and piping plovers. Throughout the weekend, activities at the Environmental Learning Center educated and enthralled nature enthusiasts of all ages. Estuary Soup, owl pellet dissection and conservation games catered to the younger crowd, while presentations, a historic reenactment and films provided more reflective opportunities to learn about nature. Live birds of prey, the touch tank and Snail Trail walks were a big hit with everyone in attendance. |
